Atlantis Business Consulting's Tip of the Day is:

"Cover single-pane windows with storm windows or replace them with more efficient double-pane low- emissivity windows.  Use foam sealant on larger gaps around windows, baseboards, and other places where air may leak out."

Energy Tip of the Day:

Atlantis Business Consulting's Tip of the Day is:

"Install foam gaskets behind outlet and switch plates on walls. Also, be sure to inspect dirty spots in your insulation for air leaks and mold  as well as dirty spots on your ceiling paint and carpet, which may indicate air leaks at interior wall/ceiling joints and wall/floor joists, and caulk them.. Seal leaks with low-expansion spray foam made for this purpose and install house flashing if needed."

Energy Tip of the Day:

Atlantis Business Consulting's Tip of the Day is:

"Test your home for air tightness. On a windy day, carefully hold a lit incense stick or a smoke pen next to your windows, doors, electrical boxes, plumbing fixtures, electrical outlets, ceiling fixtures, attic hatches, and other places where air may leak. If the smoke stream travels horizontally, you have located an air leak that may need caulking, sealing, or weatherstripping."

Energy Tip of the Day:

Atlantis Business Consulting's Tip of the Day is:

"Fireplace flues are made from metal, and over time repeated heating and cooling can cause the metal to warp or break, creating a channel for air loss. To seal your flue when not in use, consider an inflatable chimney balloon. Inflatable chimney balloons fit beneath your fireplace flue when not in use, are made from durable plastic, and can be removed easily and reused hundreds of times. If you forget to remove the balloon before making a fire, the balloon will automatically deflate within seconds of coming into contact with heat.

Energy Tip of the Day:

Atlantis Business Consulting's Tip of the Day is:

"During a professional energy audit, an energy auditor analyzes your energy bills, completes visual, health and safety inspections, and may use special equipment -- such as a blower door and an infrared camera -- to detect sources of energy loss. Based on the data collected, an energy audit will provide you with a comprehensive home energy report that shows which energy efficiency upgrades are best for your home and your potential energy savings.

Energy Tip of the Day:

Atlantis Business Consulting's Tip of the Day is:

"Sometimes called an energy assessment, a home energy audit helps you learn how you use energy, determine where it’s being wasted and prioritize your efficiency upgrades. Making energy efficiency upgrades identified in a home energy audit can save 5-30 percent on your monthly energy bill while also ensuring the health and safety of your house."

Energy Tip of the Day:

Atlantis Business Consulting's Tip of the Day is:

"Compared with other add-on systems, mini splits offer more flexibility in interior design options. The indoor air handlers can be suspended from a ceiling, mounted flush into a drop ceiling, or hung on a wall. Floor-standing models are also available. Most indoor units have profiles of about seven inches (~18 cm) deep and usually come with sleek, high-tech-looking jackets. Many also offer a remote control to make it easier to turn the system on and off when it's positioned high on a wall or suspended from a ceiling.

Energy Tip of the Day:

Atlantis Business Consulting's Tip of the Day is:

"Since mini splits have no ducts, they avoid the energy losses associated with ductwork of central forced air systems. Duct losses can account for more than 30% of energy consumption for space conditioning, especially if the ducts are in an unconditioned space such as an attic."
